Cellphone scams (text messages)
The text Messages (examples below) are typical of the
variety of a growing trend. SMS (text messages) sent over your
wireless or PDA are great ways to communicate. There is however a
risk with this, malicious users can send forged SMS messages posing as
your wireless carrier's employee. Typically the goal is to get you
to reveal account information, or to cause you to incur an erroneous
charge by calling the number they direct you to.
| Do NOT
follow any instructions given in any of these SMS scam
messages. if you doubt the authenticity of an SMS
text you receive, contact your wireless provider at the customer
service number given to you at the time you purchased your
service.
